Dynamic Sampling &
Dynamic Probing
Dynamic sampling
We provide dynamic sampling, also known as window sampling, for standard site investigations across the West Midlands and nationally, typically reaching around 5 metres depending on ground conditions, ahead of foundation design, contamination assessment, or further investigation. This is a fast, cost-effective way to establish ground conditions with minimal disturbance to the site.
Where a site requires further depth, or the ground calls for rotary follow-on, our compact rotary rig continues the investigation on the same visit.
The process
Window sampling uses a track-mounted rig to dynamically drive a steel sampling tube into the ground, recovering small disturbed soil samples at regular intervals as the borehole is advanced. Where undisturbed samples are needed for laboratory testing, sample tubes can be driven in the same way. The borehole is advanced in this manner until refusal is met, typically around 5 metres depending on ground condition.
Window sampling suits standard site investigations, including foundation design, contamination assessment, and general ground condition surveys ahead of construction or development. It’s well suited to domestic and small commercial sites needing a fast, cost-effective, and low-disturbance way to establish ground conditions.
In-situ Testing
Alongside window sampling, we can carry out in-situ testing including standard penetration testing (SPT) and the installation of monitoring wells or standpipes, where required as part of the investigation.

Window Sampling & Dynamic Probing
We deliver ground investigation and geo-environmental services across the UK, providing reliable data to support design, construction, and development projects.
Our work combines geo-technical and geo-environmental ground investigation, helping clients understand both ground conditions and potential contamination within a single coordinated approach where required.
We use window sampling, probing, and compact rotary drilling to obtain high-quality ground data from shallow soils through to deeper strata and rock.
